Easy install of GIMP with Flatpak.

GIMP is a free and open-source raster graphics editor used for image retouching and editing, free-form drawing, converting between different image formats, and more specialized tasks. GIMP is released under GPLv3+ licenses and is available for Linux, macOS, and Microsoft Windows, see Wikipedia.
Flatpak is a software utility for software deployment and package management for Linux. It is advertised as offering a sandbox environment in which users can run application software in isolation from the rest of the system. see Wikipedia.
Flatpak builds available in i386, x86-64, ARM and AArch64.

Krita 4.2.2 : Install the G'MIC on Krita software.

The G'MIC tool can be installed on Krita version 4.2.2 and older versions.
This tool is an opensource filter framework.
The G'MIC is open-source software distributed under the CeCILL free software licenses (LGPL-like and/or GPL-compatible).
You can download it from here.
Download it, unzip and place it somewhere you can find it.
Open the Krita software and use Settings - Configure Krita - G’Mic plugin and set G’MIC to the file path there.
The official YouTube channel has many video tutorials with this tool and GIMP software.

GIMP: extract still background and mask frames.

The issue is about BgMask: extract still background from video frames / mask frames against background , see Thread-extract-from-gif-with-BgMask-script.
The GIF file come from giphy.
I tested with the .scm script and working well with extract background and mask.
I have noticed that the differences are significantly positive when the background is static and the animation does not exceed the display area of ​​the GIF file, see the output result:

This new release come with this news: GIMP 2.10 is the result of six years of work that originally focused on porting the program to a new image processing engine, GEGL. However the new version ships with far more new features, including new and improved tools, better file formats support, various usability improvements, revamped color management support, a plethora of improvements targeted at digital painters and photographers, metadata editing, and much, much more.

This release include features that users have been asking the team all along:

• New Unified Transform (rotating, scaling, perspective etc. in one go), Handle Transform, and Warp Transform (think Photoshop's Liquify) tools;
• Processing with 16/32-bit per color channel precision, integer or float;
• Gradient tool now allows on-canvas editing;

News: The new Gimp version 2.9.8 released .

This released version was focusing on bug fixing and stability.
Here are a few of the new features of this graphical tool:

• come with new features like introduces on-canvas gradient editing and various enhancements. 
• the HGT files (Digital Elevation Model data by the NASA ) can now be imported;
• the team improved Wavelet Decompose Filter and the PSD plug-in was fixed to properly handle Photoshop files. 
• Paste in Place and GUI features

The Gimp version 2.9.6 devel .

Today I tested the new devel tool Gimp version 2.9.6 from official website .
For me this graphic tool was stable.
I used version 2.9.6 for windows OS.
I don't test scripts just some of basic features.
Come with a funny install application and a good message for users.
The interface is same but with a dark theme.
The shortcuts keys are the same ( I don't see many changes).
For development option is this GIMP output.
When the application is start show me some errors, so I send all infos to development team.
I used this tool in the past and is great , free , easy to use and with many options.
If you know the interpreting language called Scheme the will love to scripting your Gimp tools.
