This patch series introduces multikernel architecture support, enabling
multiple independent kernel instances to coexist and communicate on a
single physical machine. Each kernel instance can run on dedicated CPU
cores while sharing the underlying hardware resources.
The multikernel architecture provides several key benefits:
- Improved fault isolation between different workloads
- Enhanced security through kernel-level separation
- Better resource utilization than traditional VM (KVM, Xen etc.)
- Potential zero-down kernel update with KHO (Kernel Hand Over)
Linux Mint 22.3
Although the latest release came later than expected and we’re currently focused on LMDE 7, we’re still planning on having a Mint 22.3 release in December.
This is going to be a very short release cycle. The priority will be the new version of Cinnamon and shipping some of the important WIP (work in progress / planned features) which were started earlier this year:
The new menu
The status applet
The Wayland-compatible handling for keyboard layouts and input methods
Grml 2025.08 live distro for system administrators is now available for download based on the Debian 13 “Trixie” operating system series.
I used debian distros and are very good.
Grml is a Debian-based live Linux distribution tailored for system administrators. It’s designed to run directly from a USB stick or CD/DVD without installation, making it ideal for rescue tasks, system recovery, and quick deployments.
Grml uses the Debian package system APT to manage software. Another tool is grml-live Build System that allows users to create custom Grml images.
Grml is a Debian based live system focusing on the needs of system administrators. The 2025.08 release provides fresh software packages from Debian trixie. As usual it also incorporates up to date hardware support and fixes known bugs from previous Grml releases.
GNOME is used as the default experience across Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora Workstation, SUSE Linux Enterprise, Vanilla OS, Endless OS, and more.
This is not a news or something special, the news comes with:
GNOME 49.beta is now available. It also marks the start of the UI, feature and API freezes (collectively known as The Freeze). If you’d like to target the GNOME 49 platform, this is the best time to start testing your apps or shell extensions.
KDE Gear is back with a cool wave of apps for your summertime desktop!
Whether you need to brush up on your languages to visit exotic lands, plan your trips, keep up to date while on the move, meet up with friends and colleagues, create content from your holiday clips, or just chill as your quaint steam engine trundles up a picturesque peak, KDE Gear 🌞 25.08 has got you covered.
I'm happy to announce the start of a new release cycle with the first
release candidate, 25.2.0-rc1.
As always, if you find any issues please report them here:
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/issues/new
Any issue that should block the release of 25.2.0 final, thus adding
more 25.2.0-rc* release candidates, must be added to this milestone:
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/milestones/51
The next release candidate is expected in one week, on July 23rd.
Fedora 42 is a version of Fedora released to the public on 15 April 2025[1], under the codename "Adams". This version is notably the first version since Fedora 23 to use a codename. This version updates GNOME to version 48.
Yesterday I installed the Fedora Linux distro with version 42 also known as Adams, on the old Cosmic environment.
The packages were installed correctly and updated to version 42. The Cosmic environment, although it has a pretty good design, is just as poor as some of the implemented applications. I tried with about three screenshot applications to take a screenshot and I couldn't succeed. I noticed some packages for basic and cosmic implementation, but they didn't solve anything. Moreover, it seems that cosmic is related to rust and it's throwing me some strange messages!!!
I had to take a picture of the screen for this installation ... after all, it is a test version from the Fedora team based on RedHat linux!
Pop!_OS is an Ubuntu-based Linux distribution featuring a custom GNOME desktop. Pop!_OS is designed to have a minimal amount of clutter on the desktop without distractions in order to allow the user to focus on work. The distribution is developed by Linux computer retailer System76.
NOTE : ... this is not only news on linux distro area , but I wrote only I read about or used ...
Debian distro Linux comes with a new refresh (12.11), featuring 81 bug fixes and 45 security updates. Here's more on that.
After Debian archive was updated to 12.11, the Debian CD team did the hard work of preparing and testing our installation medias to ensure everything worked properly. Their work is now complete and the images are available at
My preference would be Fedora Linux, but this Linux Mint distro would be a possible design choice.
Linux Mint 21.3 is a long term support release which will be supported until 2027 and now comes with Linux Mint 21.3 Virginia – BETA Release.
I used in the past and works great because has based on Debian distro and now use Ubuntu.
Minimal system requirements:
2GB RAM (4GB recommended for a comfortable usage).20GB of disk space (100GB recommended).1024×768 resolution (on lower resolutions, press ALT to drag windows with the mouse if they don’t fit in the screen).
I do not consider the design of linux environments to be very evolved from a design point of view. It is worth noting the effort of the developers to customize the old source code. Here are some old and new remarkable examples:
Cool Desktop Animations for Ubuntu 22.04, Fedora 36, other Linux with GNOME
This online tool for drawing and working with SVG file format comes with this intro:
Boxy SVG project goal is to create the best tool for editing SVG files.
For beginners as well as for professional web designers and web developers.
On any device and operating system.
...
Boxy SVG is built around the idea that user interfaces should get out of the way. There is no crowded workspace with overlapping dialogs or dozens of opened palettes and toolbars. Your illustration takes the center stage.
Whether it's the editing of shapes or adjustment of gradient fills, most of the action is taking place directly on the canvas. Fine control over the changes is available in panels that you can expand and then collapse with a single click or keypress.
Many features are accessible with keyboard shortcuts that you can customize to your liking. This is especially useful if you are coming with a lot of muscle memory from years of using other vector graphics editors.
The tool comes with a trial for 15 days or you can subscribe with these two options: 9.99 USD/ year or 9.99 USD/month register with your account.
On the official webpage, the Linux version is Free.
I install it easily on my Fedora 33 distro Linux with the snap tool:
[mythcat@desk ~]$ snap search boxy

I tested all features of this tool and, is very good for an SVG tool.
